Here’s the latest news about Anne Newgarden.

2024

November

Greetings, Dear Reader . . .

What a whirlwind it’s been since last I posted here! I’m delighted to share with you my latest “doings” with Star Garden Press and related endeavors.

This past summer brought to fruition a new enterprise that I began in “beta test” form in the spring. It’s my Soul Salon, a Zoom gathering where I invite folks interested in things metaphysical, both curious newbies and seasoned seekers, to learn, share, discuss, and connect with one another. It’s been dubbed the “Soul Saloon” by my friend Annette (she’s Irish, she should know) because I encourage attendees to bring along their beverage of choice, spirited or not . . . and because we tend to do a lot of laughing, too.

While some early Salons were discussions on a particular metaphysical topic (the first: What Is Channeling, and Why Do I Think It’s Important?), most have featured a metaphysical practitioner, or several. Psychic/medium/past life regressionist Rev. Kev O’Kane; frequency worker (and jack-of-all-metaphysical-trades—my term) Roger Ansanelli; and psychic/medium Edward Ragosta, all featured in my book, have been among my stellar guests. Most recently, on November 14, the Salon hosted wonderful psychic/medium Jennifer Hicks, also featured in Adventures of a Soul, who talked about her work with police and FBI, and did mind-blowing mini-readings for each attendee. (Thank you, Jennifer!)

To find out more about the Soul Salon, Dear Reader, and/or receive mailings about upcoming Salons, please email me at soulsalon@annenewgarden.com. Recordings of  Salons are usually available if you can’t attend for the Zoom, and many past Salons are available as a recording, too, if you’d like to see what the heck I’m talking about . . . all by suggested donation. Look for a Soul Salon tab on AnneNewgarden.com soon, which will house all Salon-related information.

I’m so appreciative of all who have donated to help support this project! Many thanks to my fantastic book-cover designer and dear friend, Laura Duffy, for the beautiful new logo, too! If you need a book cover, logo, or other graphic art help, Laura’s your woman.

Summer also brought my first ever live event that was more than just a book-signing—not that those aren’t great too. I journeyed to charming Warwick, New York, home of the LightClub Curiosity Shoppe, a gorgeous and HUGE gem of a shop (stop by and tell the fabulous owner, Melissa Paone Somma, and her uber-friendly staff, that I sent you!). The LightClub hosted an event featuring the gifted and always entertaining psychic/medium Edward Ragosta, who regularly offers readings at the Shoppe. I read bits from my book about my initial meeting with Edward and our work together over the many years since. (Reader, we calculated that our initial encounter, in a Greenwich Village café, was more than thirty years ago! How can that be, when we are both so young??)

We signed books together; I interviewed Edward, taking additional questions from the audience; and then Edward did a mini-reading for each participant—including moi. I had to laugh when the dear departed friend I asked about came through with her characteristic (when in body) suggestion that I cut my hair. Yep—that was her! She shared some other intriguing messages and predictions which remain to be seen.

To add to the fun, I was surprised by the presence of my dear friend Annette (she of “Soul Saloon” fame, above), very much IN her body, who made the trek to Warwick from her Pennsylvania home. Thank you, Annette! I’d only previously met Annette online in our weekly Power of Eight group (see my last entry here in News, if you’re curious as to what that is—I’ll be writing about it in my next book about my adventures in “alternative” healing!). A grand time, I would say, was had by all, and many thanks to Melissa and Edward and the Shoppe staff for making it happen.

September brought me to beautiful Upstate New York again—Rochester, this time—for a very exciting event. It was the second live gathering I’ve attended with Lee Carroll, author and world-renowned long-time channeler of the energetic being Kyron, and his partner, Kryon archivist and fellow author Monika Muranyi. They were joined by Dr. John Ryan, creator of the Unity Field Healing modality, which works in conjunction with a group of nonphysical beings called the Sirian Blue White Collective, whom he also channels. (Yes, you read that right, Reader. “Syrian” as in the Sirius star system.) Dr. John is a practicing radiologist and professor at the University of Ottawa, Canada . . .  and don’t I love it when Western Science meets woo-woo in gifted individuals like these! In fact, Lee Carroll was a successful audio engineer, self-described “science nerd,” and quite the skeptic, as he tells it, before Kryon began speaking to him more than thirty years ago.

The weekend of lectures, channeled messages, and mini healing sessions was a total blast, and part of my continuing research on channeling and channelers, which will likely be the topic of my third book. The cherry on top of it all was the opportunity to visit in person for the first time with Deb, another friend I’d only met virtually in my Power of Eight sessions, and in my Soul Salons—where she was a featured guest, talking about her own experiences learning to channel. Through Deb, I made some lovely new friends too. Nothing like hanging with Soul Family to raise a gal’s vibe . . .

Seems I can’t get enough of Upstate New York these days. In November, I gathered for the second annual weekend “retreat” with some of my Power of Eight group members in rural Kerhonkson. So great to be with more Soul Family, including a few of the canine sort! There was nonstop woo-woo and energy healing discussion (one of the members brought her Rife frequency machine, and we tried it out, with some very positive results—more on healing with frequencies in my upcoming book!), plus a lot of eating and drinking—and wow, can these folks cook! We finally made it to the tiny but fun UFO Museum in Pine Bush, which we tried to visit last year unsuccessfully, as it had been turned temporarily into a haunted house for Halloween! The museum featured “paranormal” exhibits, in addition to the ET sort. . . haunted dolls, a haunted tea set, and a haunted children’s portrait. One member of our group, not prone to dramatics, swore, afterward, that while we sat in the “haunted objects” area, an appropriately creepy shed-like enclosure, an invisible someone was touching her leg!

Last but not least . . . I’m thrilled to announce that my mini e-book 15 Things Good Psychics Wished You Knew Before a Reading will be available in PAPERBACK at your favorite online bookstore on (or in some cases before) November 22. Based on my interviews and conversations with many of my favorite psychics and mediums (remember my Dream Team from Adventures of a Soul?), it offers insights on what these practitioners are actually reading during a reading, how they understand the work they do, and how that understanding can help YOU to get the best reading possible—every time. Reader, some of the things I learned from them were things I’ve not found in any book or online source—and believe me, I’ve looked! A few of them were game-changers for me. And now they can be for you, too.

Look for the NEW paperback version of 15 Things at your favorite online bookseller. If you do purchase and enjoy it, Reader, please show me some love with a review on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or wherever you have an account and can leave a review . . . they really help!

With big love, and gratitude, and hoping to see you at an upcoming Salons,

xoxo

Anne

2023

November

It’s been a minute, as they say, Dear Reader, since I’ve updated my Newgarden News, so here goes!

Back in August, as I celebrated the one-year (Egad! Can it be?) anniversary of publishing Adventures of a Soul, I was honored to receive my “fifteen minutes of fame,” as Andy Warhol once put it, in the Staten Island Advance, my hometown (growing up) newspaper. You can read their lovely article here. Big thanks to reporter Carol Ann Benanti and all the staff who made it happen.

Come October, I met with five of my “Power of Eight” group members—we do weekly online group “intentions” for others, based on the work of science journalist and best-selling author Lynne McTaggart—for two days of consciousness exploration (and fun!) in Upstate New York. Some of us had never met one another in person, but consciously intending together to help others is an amazingly bonding experience. (Note: We’re always seeking “recipients” for intentions! If you need help with a health issue, a relationship issue, a financial issue, or honestly, ANYTHING, Reader, give me a shout at anne@annenewgarden.com! Or come join us at our weekly Zoom sessions to intend for others, which brings benefits of its own, as McTaggart’s fascinating work has shown. See my Paranormal Is the New Normal blog post on the topic to learn more.)

I was so grateful for this little gathering of “family” that we experienced in the beautiful autumnal countryside, and the opportunity to share what we are each learning, experiencing, watching, and studying—in addition to stuffing our faces with homemade bread, Hudson River Valley apples, and farmstand blueberry pie! I’ll be writing about my adventures with my Power of Eight group and the power of thought in an upcoming book. Stay tuned!

I was delighted, Reader, to get in the spirit of Halloween by signing copies of my book, and meeting with many friends, old and new, at Freedom Rocks, a gorgeous crystal and gift shop on Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ. Big thanks to the aptly named Danielle Angel and her helpful staff for the opportunity and assistance!

Another massive shout-out of thanks to comedy icon, actor, author, musical theater star, and generous soul Robert Klein, who has a cameo appearance in Adventures of a Soul, for helping me promote my book on social media! (Reader, if you’re wondering why the heck Robert Klein appears in a book about psychics and mediums, well, buy my book!  And by the way, if you haven’t read his beautifully written memoir, The Amorous Busboy of Decatur Avenue, it’s highly recommended!)

Last but not least, Patient Reader, a fond farewell was bid to the Threadbare Armchair, which, as you may remember, was practically a character in Adventures of a Soul, and which served me well through oh so many years and ponderings. (Can you say, End of an Era?)

That’s it for now. My sincere wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving 2023 to all!

April

Greetings, Reader!

I’m pleased to share my recent author interview by MysticMag! (Click here to read it.) Topics include my childhood fascination with the metaphysical; what inspired me to write my book Adventures of a Soul; one of the most memorable adventures chronicled in my book; how to do your homework before a psychic reading; some good news, as I see it, for these challenging times; and more.

Many thanks to Miguel Amado and MysticMag for inviting me to be part of your blog’s incredibly extensive collection of interviews with spiritual and New Age thinkers, writers, and practitioners of all sorts. (Reader, jump in and explore!)

Next—a big shout-out of thanks to Elizabeth Young of the wonderfully cozy (hang out on the porch!)  indie bookstore Commonplace Reader, located in charming Yardley, PA. Commonplace Reader has given a home to Adventures of a Soul on its lovingly curated shelves—no small thing for an indie author, and I am so grateful! I’m grateful, too, to Yardley’s own Kent Elwell, my former Staten Island homie, for pitching my book to Liz, and for his truly unflagging support of me as an author (can you say, “Earth Angel”?).

Check out the shop’s Web site, where you can browse AND order books—including mine. Just type my name into the site’s search tool. Easy-peasy! Be sure to visit the Local Authors page for, yup, me again, LOL! I’m proud to be included with the many gifted local authors supported by Liz and her shop.

Stay tuned for upcoming author events I hope to attend LIVE in Yardley, in May and June! (Sign up for my mailing list with the form on the right, so you won’t miss out on the details.)

And remember, Reader, shop small to support indie bookstores!

December

Drumroll, please! My first audio INTERVIEW, conducted by my dear friend Cullen Stanley, is up and ready for your woo-woo-curious ears!

Join us, Reader, as Cullen drills down deep about how I came to write Adventures of a Soul; what it was like to write such a personal and revealing book—especially about matters of the heart; how my explorations in the invisible world changed my life, ALL FOR THE BETTER; what future books I’m working on now; and much more.

Drop me an e-mail with questions YOU’D like me to answer in my next audio or video.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, believe it or not! I can’t quite, myself. I’m so grateful for all of you who have supported me and my book so incredibly these past few months. You are all at the top of my list of things to be thankful for, and I send my love to each and every one of you who reads this. (And all those who don’t!)

As the season of giving continues to unfurl, I wanted to let you know that, should you be seeking holiday gift for a woo-woo-curious friend or relative, boss or employee, or BIG LOVE in your life, this Thanksgiving weekend is the perfect time to buy Adventures of a Soul on Amazon.

Amazon is currently offering a sweet $4.00 discount on the paperback edition of Adventures of a Soul. I can’t say how much longer they’ll offer this discount. They do it at their own whim, Reader, and—some of my amazing intuitive friends aside—who can plumb the depths of the Amazon i-mind?? And who knows what holiday shipping may be like this year? So, if you WOULD like to purchase a copy, or hey, copies, I’d recommend ordering as soon as possible to get them in time to slide them under the tree, bush, or bed. (My Colombian sister-in-law tells me they found their presents hidden under the bed, when she was a girl! Who knew?)

Inspired by Amazon’s discount on the paperback, I’ve decided to launch my very first Black Friday/Small Business Saturday/Cyber-Monday e-book promotion this year:

From Thanksgiving until midnight PST on Monday, November 28th, I’m marking down the price of the Kindle e-book edition of Adventures of a Soul from $6.99 to $4.99.

Click here to save on paperback and Kindle editions of Adventures of a Soul on Amazon.

But wait, Dear Reader, there’s more! (Picture ironic smile emoji here.)

I’m also marking down the Kindle mini e-book edition of 15 Things Good Psychics Wished You Knew Before a Reading from $2.99 to FREE. This deal also runs from Thanksgiving until midnight PST on Monday, November 28th.

(Please note: Subscribers to my mailing list receive a free pdf copy of this mini e-book when they sign up, but this is a chance to get a free copy of a version formatted specifically for your Kindle e-reader or in the Kindle app on your computer, laptop, tablet, or cell phone. Woohoo! If you didn’t receive this “free gift” upon subscribing, and would like to receive it now, here’s your chance!)

I’m thrilled to share that Adventures of a Soul is featured in the Book Reviews and Products section of the December/January issue of CREATIONS MAGAZINE.

CREATIONS MAGAZINE has been “Inspiring the Soul for 36 years” and boasts a total readership of 150,000, so this is great exposure! Many heartfelt thanks to editors/publishers Neil and Andrea Garvey for including my book in their fantastic and long-lived mag, and for their very kind words about it.

If you’re not familiar with it, beyond book and product reviews, CREATIONS MAGAZINE is filled with articles covering personal/spiritual growth, relationships, alternative healing, nutrition, yoga/meditation, and the environment, and is well worth picking up—as I always do. (How do you think I got the idea to send them a query letter?)

Distribution begins on November 25th to nearly 1,000 locations throughout New York City and Long Island. So New Yorkers, while you’re enjoying the BEST season of the year, in my humble opinion, in and around our fair city, swing by your local health food store, wellness, spiritual and cultural arts center, library, university, supermarket, coffee shop, music and bookstore, yoga studio, or gym to pick up a copy.

Not in New York City and Long Island, or don’t have time to search for a copy? You can have CREATIONS MAGAZINE mailed directly to your address by subscribing here.

I’d be so thankful if you were inspired to support Neil and Andrea’s enterprising entrepreneurial efforts. Thirty-six years in business is something to be proud of!

The December/January issue will become available digitally on December 1st here.

November

This just in, Reader: Beloved indie Malaprop’s Bookstore & Café, in Asheville, NC, will be stocking my book in upcoming weeks. SO many thanks to my cousin Phyllis Ann Collins Salomone, for pitching it to them, and to Senior Buyer and Manager Justin Souther for, to quote ABBA (and who doesn’t take any given opportunity to quote ABBA?) taking a chance on me—and my book!

I’m also excited to announce that Adventures of a Soul will soon be available at Freedom Rocks, a fantastic crystal and all-things-New-Age-y emporium recently relocated at 550 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, just a short, foot-bridge-walk from Ocean Grove. In addition to its massive collection of crystals, in a literal rainbow of colors (such a treat to look at and hold!), it features a section of well-chosen (if I do say so myself) New Age books, distinctive tarot and oracle decks (Disney Villain tarot cards, anyone?), crystal-studded jewelry, whimsical sun-catchers, and more. You can experience an aura reading (book ahead on Instagram), which comes complete with a snapshot of your individual aura’s unique hues—it’s next on my list!

And be sure to take a selfie with their set of full-size amethyst crystal wings! Many thanks to the lovely and aptly named owner Danielle Angel for taking a chance on me and Adventures of a Soul. We hope to do an event involving some of the practitioners from my book there later this fall.

September

My thanks and gratitude to the wonderful Steve Mandeville, who’ll be selling Adventures of a Soul at his fantastic gift-and-book shop, Comfort Zone, in Ocean Grove, NJ, the first brick-and-mortar store to carry it so far. Woo-hoo!

Thanks, too, to the fabulous Anita Moorjani, New York Times best-selling author, inspirational leader, and sought-after speaker, for the shout-out on social media, complimenting my blog post featuring her and her story—and plugging my book. Anita, you’re truly kind, and I do hope you enjoy the book!
