Adventures of a Soul:
Psychics, Mediums, the Mystical, and Me

Adventures of a Soul: Psychics, Mediums, the Mystical, and Me, my first book about my explorations into things metaphysical, didn’t begin as an idea for a book.

It started as a purely personal “exploratory project,” begun at a time when I was in need of answers—about mind-boggling experiences I’d had with a psychic and a medium; inexplicable instincts I’d had since childhood about reincarnation and realms beyond this one; and why it was seemed impossible for me to find romantic love. And, Reader, I got those answers . . . and so much more!

Being a writer, I felt compelled to chronicle my journey of exploration and share it with others, in the hope of inspiring them to set off on a journey of their own . . .

15 Things Good Psychics Wished
You Knew Before A Reading

While writing my book Adventures of a Soul: Psychics, Mediums, the Mystical, and Me, I had literally hundreds of readings with a Dream Team I created of ten excellent psychics and mediums I’d put to the test. I was also able to sit down with most of them and interview them about what they did.

What a fantastic experience! I learned so much, and what I learned really affected the way I now approach readings, the types of things I ask, and the way I understand the information that comes in. Many of these pearls of wisdom were things I’d not been able to find anywhere else . . . and believe me, I looked.

And now, Reader, it’s my delight to share them with you.

Becoming Jane:
The Wit and Wisdom of Jane Austen

Hyperion hired me to edit a tie-in book to the 2007 Miramax Jane Austen biopic Becoming Jane, starring Anne Hathaway. My assignment was to research and write on topics like “Home,” “Family,” “Money,” and “Love” in Austen’s time, and hunt down quotes on those same topics from her various books and correspondences.

Delving into Austen’s correspondence with her sister, where she really let her humor rip, gave me a new level of insight into how scathingly funny she could be. I have immense admiration for her talents and what she accomplished in her very short life at a time when females had very little in the way of freedoms, and women writers were few and far between.

You can still find paperback copies at local used bookstores and Amazon.

Christmas Around the World:
A Pop-Up Book

Christmas Around the World was my second highly enjoyable collaboration with artist and friend Chuck Fischer. While I’d been able to research Christmas in New York on foot, this time I had to rely on the magic of the Internet to transport me—to the UK, Germany, Italy, Russia, France, Scandinavia, and more. Learning about the unique and sometimes surprising traditions of other cultures’ Christmas celebrations (can you say “Krampus”?) whet my appetite to one day experience them myself.

Unfortunately, this book is currently out of print, but new and used copies are still available at Amazon.

Christmas in New York:
A Pop-Up Book

A literary agent friend of mine introduced me to one of her clients, gifted artist Chuck Fischer. Chuck needed a writer/researcher for his new pop-up book, Christmas in New York. We hit it off—what a sweet guy!—and he hired me on the spot.

Chuck’s books are ingeniously designed to allow for a surprising amount of text. My job was to provide that text for the gorgeous spreads and sidebars he designed. A true lover of Christmas and of my hometown, my research expeditions through the city were a gift in and of themselves.

Unfortunately, this book is currently out of print, but new and used copies are still available at Amazon.
